Weather Event II
Reported yesterday that we’re in the midst of a somewhat-surprising winter storm in Waynesville, NC. Woke up this morning to see the outdoors covered with snow, about an inch or so, and it’s still snowing a bit, as depicted in the photo.
The prediction is for snow all day, an accumulation of 3-5 inches. Guess we’ll have to see. Pam and I plan to walk into town (about 1.5 miles, all on sidewalk) around midday. I’ll go to a meeting, and she’ll busy herself.
HERE’S AN UPDATE: Well, the snow stopped pretty quickly yesterday (a bit contrary to the weather predicition), the temperature was above freezing all day, and today there’s no snow visible around here — looks just as it did when we arrived on Sunday and during the day on Monday.
We went into Waynesville and a bit beyond — decided to go for a little walk around Lake Junaluska, which is lovely; on the residential side of the lake are the kind of upscale and imaginative houses you’d expect to find around a large, beautiful lake in North Carolina, and on the other side are some businesses (inns and restaurants), some churches, and a small marina.
We’ll drive into Asheville this afternoon — reluctant to set out traveling yesterday, even 35 miles, with the dire predictions of lots more snow and icy roads. Seems as if there’s no worries in the weather department today — oops, shouldn’t said that!
