Been considering the 2012 Spoleto Festival this morning — there’s a sort of reminder email in my Gmail Inbox, allowing (encouraging me, really) to log into the Festival.
It’s from about May 25th to almost the middle of June (see spoletousa.org) and includes theater, dance, mixed-media productions, lotsa music, and even a sub-festival called Piccolo Spoleto (which is where I find the most interesting things — such as The Tiny Ninja Theatre presenting their very small production of Macbeth, or a version of Othello from the women characters’ point-of view, The Play About a Handkerchief).
This year has Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, which I’ve seen three times, a single performance by K.D. Lang, and many other interesting shows.
In addition to which, there will be an arts\crafts festival in the local parks right near all the Festival venues, and just walking around the streets of Charleston is great fun!
